Uses
- Oxygen-Free copper applications for ultrafine wire drawing and
for exposure to reducing atmospheres.
- Ease of production of large size of rod for special application
such as trolley wire and rotary extrusions.

bearing copper, copper tin alloys, etc.
Rod Quality
- OXYGEN - levels in the rod depend on the type of product being
produced. For ultrafine wire applications, the oxygen is typically
less than 3ppm. For other noncritical uses, for example rotary
extrusion applications, the oxygen level is maintained at less than
10ppm (ASTM)
- SURFACE OXIDE THICKNESS is much less than rod produced by
conventional means of hot rolling. Since the rod is only exposed to
the atmosphere after cooling, oxidation of the surface is minimized.
TYPICAL VALUES ARE LESS THAN 100A.
- TENSILE STRENGTH of the cast rod (8mm) is typically
200N/mm2
- ELONGATION of the cast rod is typically 40%.
